Inside the assessment

One score, read carefully.

This assessment uses the eight-item refined IPIP representation of the Gratitude scale from the IPIP-VIA family. The official key contains six positively keyed and two negatively keyed statements. The official comparison table reports coefficient alpha .79, based on the Eugene–Springfield Community Sample. That coefficient describes consistency in the source sample, not the accuracy of an individual result.

Very Inaccurate through Very Accurate receive 1–5 points. The final two negatively keyed items are reverse scored from 5 to 1, and all eight keyed values are summed for a total from 8 to 40.
